US Investigating Russian Involvement in Chemical Attack

The can of worms is just getting slimier and grimier as the US is now investigating Russia on their involvement in the chemical attacks in Syria. The very same ones that prompted president Donald Trump to authorize 59 Tomahawk missiles to launch from a warship in the eastern Mediterranean against the Syrian airbase Thursday night/Friday morning.

It seems that a Russian warplane may have bombed a hospital in Khan Sheikhoun five hours after the chemical attacks and the US is looking into whether this was done to destroy evidence. The US has intelligence showing a Russian operated drone flying over the hospital that was treating victims of the chemical attack shortly before the hospital being bombed. According to Russia, the bombing occurred at the hands of a Syrian airstrike but the intelligence community is not buying it.

Russian president Vladimir Putin called the US attack against Syria, an “act of aggression” and said it was in violation of international law. Putin also said that the attack “dealt a serious blow to Russian-US relations.”

I seriously don’t see this ending well in anyway. The US has taken a big step toward another war in the middle east and is now investigating whether one of the world power players in Russia were complicit in Syrian’s chemical attacks. If they were complicit, then what? We could be looking at a giant rift between the US and Russia that could lead to more complications.

On top of ALL of that, president Trump and his people have been fighting off all the connections to Russia so could this be some kind of proving ground for the president to show he is not in bed with the Russians? We know he cares way too much about his image and what is said about him in the media or he wouldn’t spend so much time tweeting and commenting about it. So what if this is the way he lays that commentary to rest by going extra hard at Russia?

Either way, there is nothing good to come out of this and the world is watching. The last thing we need is more wars to pay for and Trump agreed about it before running for president and during his campaign speeches. Of course he hasn’t been too good with his word lately. Should we put troops on the ground in Syria? What do you think?
